In 2021, 1 in 4 adults and 1 in 5 children — more than 80 million people — in the United States reported suffering from seasonal allergies, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). People suffer annually, from the tree pollens in the spring to ragweed in the fall. Symptoms may include runny nose, watery or itchy eyes, sneezing, scratchy throat, nasal congestion, and cough.
Many people pursue immunotherapy and get allergy shots, with 80 to 85% experiencing relief, reducing their need for medications. It may take up to a year to realize the benefits; for many, it may take 3 to 5 years. Others end up with no reduction of reactions and, to boot, find that their antihistamines are of no help. There is another way.
In 1984, Dr. Devi Nambrudripad discovered a natural way to reset the body’s response to an allergen. This natural technique is called NAET, which stands for Nambrudripad’s Allergy Elimination Techniques. Dr. Nambrudripad discovered the technique after suffering a severe allergic response to a carrot. After receiving acupuncture for the symptoms, she found she was no longer allergic. NAET treatments are based on acupuncture/chiropractic theory, which consists of tapping the person’s back along the spine while holding the offending allergen in their hand. In the case of seasonal allergies, vials of alcohol and water are imprinted with the many varieties of trees, flowers, weeds, grasses, etc. The patient avoids the treated allergen for 24 hours. Once cleared, treatments can last a lifetime. NAET treatments can be done on children as young as 6 weeks old. Acupuncture is typically given after treatment but is not generally done on children and the needle-shy.
Seasonal Allergy Case Study:
A 75-year-old retired woman came to me for allergy treatments. “I want to golf without my nose running all over the golf course,” she said with total frustration. “Zyrtec and Claritin no longer work for me” is a common complaint from my allergy patients. We started treatments on March 30th that year with the NAET beginning Basic 17 vials consisting of food items. More often than not, when a person has strong seasonal allergies, there are also many underlying food allergies. After only five treatments, she noticed she needed fewer tissues on the golf course. By Memorial Day two months later, she had finished the 17 Basic treatments and was no longer experiencing a runny nose when golfing. Her goal was achieved in only two months. We then treated the six outdoor vials of Pollen Mix, Grass Mix, Tree Mix, Flower Mix, Weed Mix, and Mold Mix to seal the deal. After that, she sent her husband in for NAET treatments.
It’s never a bad time to start treatments. With every NAET treatment, the immune system gets stronger and stronger. As a point of reference, the trees in Colorado begin pollinating in mid-February!
